IH tow rig wanted.

I put a sign in my dodge today. Having a new rig is really sweet and stuff but I'm tired of the payment and not getting anything back. If I'm gonna dump several hundred dollars a month into something, kind of would like to have something to show for it.

Looking for a 'C' series travelette of travellal. I would like to pull a gooseneck someday so a truck would be better obviously. But, I can bumper pull my junk for a few more years.

Like all IH guys, money is tight now until the truck sells, which could be a while. I would be willing to trade some serious labor or work.
My plan is to run it as is for a few months then gather up the CTD/6spd, 60F, 14bolt rear. Really focus on making it nice and comfortable.

Please keep the CXT/MXT pics to a minimum. Not sure I could or would want one. Or a 4700 for that matter.

It doesn't matter where its at. If the price is right, I'll travel or have it shipped.

Thanks!

This one just sold for 4K and had a nice interior.

6K for one in nicer shape

I've got a line on 4 or 5 old binder trucks. I've got to go and talk to an old fella about a 195? one ton when I go home for thanksgiving. He's got a few more hanging around there in great shape. I'll take some pics and post up if you're still in the market.

BTW, I've got similar plans for the old dually: 12v,allison,14bolt, 19.5s pulling the scout around.

If you knew anyone with something like a 1980 something one ton dually with a questionable body you could probably find any old IH cab and drop it on top. I wouldn't tell anyone IIRC Hooper had some sort of heavy duty IH that is now probably covered with weeds

I just happen to have an 85 Chevy 1-ton dually.... And a 95 Dodge Diesel...

Maybe Dan would trade me straight across for his Dodge

C'mon guys. 'C' series. the green one r290 posted was sweet and I would rock that all day long. I'm so over the square body 'D' series.

I do like the roundy C's, but I have to admit that JetFxr's D series looks awesome.

Hey my ears are burning. I also like the C trucks better but as life goes you build what you have then a sweet C truck comes along When you are ready to buy I have a list of travelettes here in Montana, shoot me a note and I will help you get your tow rig. Heres a shot of my truck before the build and after. And thanks for the kind words

Theres a C series Travelette long bed 2x4 for $600.00 on the Denver Craigslist, it looks pretty good, been on there for awhile. I really like the C series over the D also, been thinking about building the 1966 Travelall Panel that i have had for 9 years but its just to good of a storage unit. Lately i have been really thinking about getting rid of my 2 dodge diesels and building a IH tow rig but i just have to many other projects going on to start another one.

From the pics, it doesn't look too bad, but the pics only show a small sampling of the truck. From reading the guy's ad, he sounds like an asshole.

There's been one on the Seattle/Tacoma Cl for a while. Not there now of course, but IIRC it looked OK and was cheap... and local

Somebody posted a link on the BB. Its a square body, which I'm not thrilled about but the price is right and its damn near already set up for me. We'll see what I can srape together. Gotta move the dodge first though.

The Travelette I was thinking of was a round body, I didn't think much of it at the time cause... while I like them, I'm "committed" to D-series right now I should probably at least "finish" on of them so I can enjoy it before I change projects... again.

If I remeber right it was a nice looking truck, and IIRC a short bed. If it pops up again I'll let you know. I have a feeling it didn't sell (not much is right now).

I'm actually kind of growing into the C-series as well. They do have a nice shape, but most require much more work to get them 'road worthy" (IMO) with brake swaps and steering etc, you just start closer with the D's. Plus parts are more common and available.

Kind of like Scout vs Scout II's
