Scout II 196 Good oil pressure and compression POWER STEERING!!

International 196 Scout II Engine--$450

This is one great little motor for anyone who is looking. It Is currently in my Scout 80 based rock crawler, but is a SCOUT II motor. If sold it will come with Scout II motor brackets, however if one wanted to mount into a Scout 80 or 800 it could be achieved by using Scout 80/800 engine mount brackets and a 800 196 intake manifold.

The engine runs and starts effortlessly, and off idle has 40 PSI of oil pressure, with no lifter rattle, valve tick or oiling problems. After 10 minutes at idle the oil pressure still reads 40 PSI. At 2700-3000 RPM’s the engine will maintain 40-55 PSI and after running for 10 minutes shows 40 PSI at sustained RPM’s and 20 PSI at idle. After 20 minutes of sustained running, it still reads 40 PSI and will idle at about 15-18 PSI, so oiling is not a problem. Cylinders 1-3 check out at 135 PSI on a compression test. Because of the engine being mounted 3” rearward and 3” back, and being flat mounted, not clocked like 80/800 4 cylinders we were unable to get the compression gauge into the number 4 cylinder. This engine also has power steering as well, including the pump.

This is the engine only and will not have a distributor or carb, however a 4 cylinder distributor could be provided if needed. The engine is currently fuel injected, this WILL NOT be included in the price of the engine, as I want to keep it for another project. You will also need to provide your own alternator as well. The engine is currently equipped with a flex plate, not a flywheel. The flex plate will only work with 4 cylinder motors and you’ll need to provide your own flywheel. I may be able to dig one up as part of the deal. The only known problem with the engine is a bad water pump, which I discovered while running it for the number above.

Asking price is $450.00, I am located in Oregon City, and would prefer a face to face sale, so the buyer can hear it run while it’s still in the truck. However, arrangements can be made for delivery if need be, dependant on the distance of course. Also, delivery to the Great Western Binder Bee is an option if you are planning on attending. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Wanted spring perches for scout 80/800 (7/8" style)

Hey anyone have a spring perch off a scout 80/800 frame? It has to be the 7/8" bushing size. I need one to replace one that had a bolt wear all the way through the tubing. I can fab one up but thought this would be a more economical approach. Thanks and let me know.

Looking for a working Dana 20 as mine is making a shitton of noise on decelerating. Kind of like a loud ratcheting. Hope to find something close

1965 scout, complete. has all the glass, hardtop, pto... $600. No paper work.

original 4 cyl with turbo. The turbo is not complete, but I believe it was a rare, but stock option. I got the motor running through the carb but I think the fuel pump is bad. I have a replacement fuel pump just haven't put it on.

I am parting out a 75 scout II. I am keeping the frame, axles, quaters, and front sheet metal. It has a 304 with auto and bad transfer case complete door's top with a skie rack type of deal. Don't know if all the little odds and ends are worth anything but let me know if anyone wants anything.

You'll be looking for a very long time. They never made 4:1 for Dana 20's only 3.15:1.

Get it running

I'm looking for a good running scout engine.
304 would be fine, 345 would be preferred.

Also I'm looking for a 1/2 top with the bulk head.

Hopefully somewhere close to Cheyenne Wy.
