Exclamation Power steering issues.

So what's wore out on my power steering system???

I don't have a whole lot of play in the steering wheel so I was surprised to find that when I'm at slower speeds and I try to make quick turns the steering jarrs. Like for a second it'll tturn good then it'll stop turning then if I give it a second it'll turn good again.

it's as if it's running out of power steering fluid. Do I need a new pump??? can I put the pump from my blazer on it??? It's and AGR superpump. Is there something else wrong with it???

When you are turning, does it feel like it is mechanically binding or does it just get harder to turn? If it is mechanically binding, I would suspect the box is having issues. If it gets hard to turn, your pump may be going into bypass instead of pumping. Sorry for being so vague, it's really hard to trouble shoot over the Net.

Mine does that now n' then, too. In my case, I'm too lazy to go buy a new power-steering belt that's a little shorter than the one I have on. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

If your Blazer has a Saginaw pump, it should work fine.

I have the same problem when I run low on fluid. What ever you do don't buy the reconditioned boxes. They arn't worth the money. On my 75 the PO bought a recon and it has failed after six months. I now have a 25 year box in the rig that works better with less fluid leak.
