What is the biggest TRE I can use with my stock scout knuckle? My tie rod will be 1 1/4" 4140 so I would like to have beefy TRE's on it. C'mon guy's hook me up...hehehe

I just bought all the stuff to make them. There 3/4-16 vs the stock 5/8 NC. The Drag Link and Tie Rod will be 1.25" DOM tubing with Left and Right TREs with poly covers. 250.00 for the pair complete.

Hey Old Scout look's good. I already have my material, but would you be so kind as to tell me what the PN for the end's are?

Moog# ES150R and ES150L are the 3/4-16 tie rod ends.
You should be able to get them at any parts store, or here . ------------------ Ben's 1961 Scout |

The next step up would be the 7/8"-18 tie rod ends, from a Chevy. I don't know if they fit the stock taper in the scout knuckles though. The taps for them are big $$. I'm going to be making tie rod & draglink for my Scout. If you wanted to use the big GM ends I can make you a set of tubes for $100, you supply the ends.

Moog part#'s for the 7/8-18 ends:
drivers tie rod end: ES2234R Pass. tie rod end: ES2010L Draglink ends: ES2026R & ES2027L If one wanted a pass. side tie rod end with the hole in it for the draglink they would use ES2233L. This isn't necessary with a Scout axle. ------------------ Ben's 1961 Scout |

My drag link has about 1/2" slop. Makes my ass pucker about every 10 minutes when it decides to go hard left or right with out asking me first.
I was going to replace it with a used drag link off a '71 parts scout I am picking up next week. Is this ok, or should I just park it until i can save up the $160 for a new one? I figure the used one can get me buy until I can afford to replace it with a beefier one.

Yep, the tap drill for 3/4-16 is .688, so the 1.25" .281 wall would be perfect. <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0"> |
