My sister has a '64 Scout with steering problems. It is very difficult to turn when the vehicle is moving straight, but after about 3/4 of a turn of the wheel it becomes really easy to turn further.
Where can I find a new steering box, or parts to rebuild it? What other kind of steering box can we use to replace it? I know very little about getting parts for an IH. I've got a Blazer with Dodge and Ford parts, but never worked on a Binder. Thanks for your help. |

My 64 came with power steering fabbed in it already. For all of the P-N-P's that I have been to and looked around at, it looks like whoever set this up, used a Ford pick-up 2wd box. I looked at a stock Scout and the mounting plate on mine is still the same so I think that it will bolt up with out mods. You could try that and just run the hoses back into each other or into a pump off to the side until you figure out the pump brackets...My brackets looked like they were welded together with chewing gum and JB weld.
