Con-ferr Winch Bumper for Scout II?
I recently came across a number of these in a warehouse that used to be an R&D site for Con-ferr.
A couple of these have "Scout II" written in grease pencil on them, but I'm trying to verify that these will fit. A couple have the Con-ferr ID plates riveted to them. I've researched on the web and found nothing, so I'm appealing to you guys for some help. Any info (and even better, pics) would be greatly appreciated. On a side note, Pete Condos (the "Con" in Con-ferr) was good friends with Al Warn (Warn winches) and so these bumpers really resemble the Warn units. They are VERY stout and well built..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm a newbie on this forum, so take it easy on me. I was sure to check all the pics of front bumpers in the FAQ's before I posted here, but didn't find anything resembling these bumpers.... |

The only guy I can think of on this board that doesn't have a front bumper is Binder. You might PM him in case he doesn't see the thread. As they sit in that pic they wouldn't bolt on to a Scout II without some sort of brackets
You will probably find more interest here http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/index.php |

I'm having problems envisioning how the hell they'd mount to a scout. Maybe they're just the "main" piece, and the smaller bracket pieces aren't mounted yet??

I think they're like a Warn bumper that has bracket that bolts/welds to each of the frame rails and then bolts to the bumper. I found an old Warn mounting kit that looks like this:
![]() It has two main "channel" pieces and a bunch of nuts and bolts. Get the idea? I think it would be a similar set up for these bumpers..... Last edited by CruiserStuff; 05-11-2010 at 06:58 AM. |

Looking at the pic, those 2 holes on the bottom might match up with the Scout bumper mounting holes. Looks like a warn winch bumper that could fit a Scout. Since it would cover the marker lights, look like they have a cut out for them on the bumper too. Those three hole look like a match to the where the stock sway bar attaches. That would make sense. Bolt down with the bumper bolts and then reinforce the bumper off the shackle sway bar attachment

If you mount the bracket to the shackle and the shackle is attached to the bumper, how is the spring gonna move?
Con-ferr has been out of business for a while. If you could find somebody who has an old catalogue you may be able to thrace the numbers that way for the application. Last edited by just4cuz; 05-11-2010 at 01:46 PM. |

I have this catalog:
![]() ....but it doesn't show any bumpers for the Scout II. Just in case you're interested, here's my thread from MUD about my adventure with all this stuff: http://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-se...err-stuff.html For clarity's sake, I don't think the Warn mounting brackets that I posted a pic of are for these bumpers (but who can know?). I just posted them to show how I think the bumper must attach to the truck's frame rails.....via similar brackets. Anyone know a Scout II owner in SoCal that might be interested in letting me "hold one up" next to his truck? Thanks for the help and input thus far, guys! Thanks for the links to people in my area. I may have spotted a couple rigs locally that I can put my hands on (that would make figuring this out a whole lot easier).
I've got a thread going on binderplanet as well, but nothing concrete has come out of it yet. Also, could someone give me this measurement please (outside to outside)?!

Update - Local gal brought her Scout II to the shop and we held up the bumper to check fit. Needs (like I thought) brackets that go between frame rails and bumper to mount. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out. We'll be pulling her bumper off and fabricating mounts soon, so stay tuned.....

I stayed tune... haha
So did you get the brackets made? You gonna sell them? I just got a Smitty 8k winch and I need to build a bumper, but if I could buy one that would save alot of hassle. Price dependant of course.
