91 Trooper SAS
I am going to 1 ton the trooper. Figured I wanted to run larger tires and wheel pretty hard and IFS ain't gonna cut it. This is just an intro post for whats coming.
Plan is to run a Dodge 60 open and 14 bolt Detroit set up with 5.38's and between a 38-40" tire. As for the suspension I am going to run the rears up front and F150 leafs in the rear. Picking up the front axle next week and get the rear hopefully sometime next weekend. About to order all the stuff to hang the axle from RuffStuff and then hit the JY for the leafs. Stay tuned! And I'll update as much as I can. It's going to be slow for the beginning while I order and collect. |

Found a carrier! Now only thing I am lost on is the shackle length. I just I'll have to make a mock shackle with multiple holes for the length. I'm not sure how much lift the ford leafs give.

Thanks Masta.
Everything has been slow lately. Got the rear suspension cut off and need to smooth it out. But the good news is, I got my carrier in, gears are in at a friends house waiting for install, and went pull some f150 leafs at my buds wrecker yard. ![]()

Well long story short, The locker was "lost". Super. Days have been short with the finally weeks of school and working late the past nights. So no work has been done in a while I'll get it started back up shortly!

Not at the moment. Friends are busy, I'm busy, my exam week is coming up and school plus work has been non stop. I have 2 weeks off before I start my summer course and gonna try to do my best to get as much as I can done. Don't worry tho, I am not giving up on this!
I would have progress if my locker would have been sent on time and not lost. I left my front axle over at my buds and didnt want to haul it back an forth to change stuff out. Looks like I'm gonna roll with open diffs for now.

Negative, it's gonna be driven for a while. Taco needs work and no trailer big chief. So its gonna be the road for a bit and I don't wanna wear out the tires.

Finally got the hangers cut off, all I have to say is that Isuzu frames did not have the best welds. (Yes I know, it's a mess)
![]() Look what got dropped off last night! Now this week I will be working on getting the axles hung and have a rolling chassis.

I wanted to clean all the mud out, check for rust, and give of a fresh coat of paint. I had the front clip off to drop the motor, then decided to take the body off. Body is getting painted top to bottom so some ease of trying to lay under it and do it.

Well crap, didn't get much done this week with people bothering me. Today was a long day of nothing...leafs hung and fought cutting the perches off the 14bolt for hours, started with a bad strategy. Need to pick up some square stock for the front hanger...hopefully get those leafs hung next week, clean up the 14 and tack on the new perches.

Well I know I said I wouldn't quit, but I need a vehicle to get me to school and my tacoma has to many issues to try to fix in a short period of time. I am sacrificing this project, but keeping the SAS parts, axles, and tires to eventually move to the tacoma instead once I get a car.
Sorry to let you all down! But life called and needed to make a choice.

ok ok, my friends got me a little more motivated to continue working on this. But I decided on a weekend driver/full on rock rig haha...do those go together? Haven't done much lately, been slacking. I have to get some more h1's traded them for a new winch. I began working on the body, sanding and priming. Gonna be OD green with some red for misc. parts. Gutted the entire body...interior cage will be built once it rolls and I can get it on a trailer. haven't decide on fix or swing tube doors.
Just filling ya'll in...hopefully I can try and get motivated to go outside and do something. But need wheels to get it across the yard on flat ground. Be patient and stay tuned!
