1994 trooper shock advice! What works and does not!
Looking for advice on what shocks work well on a 1994 trooper, 3" body lift, 31" BFG ATs, 4.3L GM vortex. No rock climbing or hard wheeling. Mostly forest roads in Colorado and desert roads in West Texas and New Mexico. Looking for something that will reduce body roll and not fade out on long bumpy dirt roads.
Also looking to add the inside coil springs air bags to help with squatting when pulling a trailer. I also seen there is a shock adapter to convert the front shock threaded rod to a standard type bolt shock. Is this worth the money to add this? thanks Last edited by nujca; 04-02-2012 at 02:13 AM. |

A 94 with a 4.3L? That's an interesting choice...the 4.3 is a good motor but I'm not sure why you would swap in a motor with about the same horsepower but whatever floats yer boat.
My favorite Trooper shocks are OME Nitrochargers. Very rugged, never noticed any fade (not that I do any high speed desert racing). Independent4x also makes a lower rear shock mount adapter that can open up your options.

What type of options with the adaptors and do you think it is worth the cost. Did you buy the firm, medium, or comfort?
thanks The isuzu motor was locked up. I had a free High Output Vortex V6 with a 4l60E transmission. So far I like the setup. With about 25% more displacement than the old motor it pulls better and is quicker. Unlike the 4l30e the 4l60e will not be going south anytime soon. I have already gone through 2 of the 4l30e transmissions. I did like the old trooper motor a lot, too bad they use a lot of oil and do not have a timing chain. That timing belt has taken a lot of good Troopers to an early grave. Last edited by nujca; 04-02-2012 at 07:03 PM. |
