any ideas?
Hi my wife has a 95 Trooper LS with 127,000 miles. Just last weekend, she got a terrible lifter tap about 10x louder then I have ever heard it before. I know about the isuzu lifter tappings and they arent that loud, but this one is LOUD. The problem is it doesnt do it all the time. Maybe 25% of the time, and it doent matter if its highway, city driving and for the length of time. The noise goes away at approx 3400rpm.
We are wondering if really isnt a lifter, but a spun bearing or what? The thing that sux is it doesnt do it all the time, and NEVER when we are near a shop for it to be looked at. Any ideas or comments are welcome. Thanks JP

After listening to it more close, it seems as tho my timing belt tensioner is loose, and you can feel where the belt is hittin the cover. It still is only every once in a while that it does it. Oh well I guess I will start reading up on the Chiltons and try to make sense of the crap in there.....
