Isuzu NPR tech

ok....so i was reading on the TLC board that the NPR deisel has a chevy bellhousing bolt pattern..............then i was looking on e-bay an noticed that NPR's came w/ 5.7L chevy gas motors as an option over the deisel................

so this leasd me to believe there is some unexplore possbilities here.

these trucks were non-computer controlled up until like 94 or 5 so.................let's put togehter some tech here.........

this could be a very interesting swap option

There is a ton of misinformation out there on the Isuzu NPR diesels. The 4bg series engines have a SAE #3 pattern, check the isuzu website...

The other peice of mis info, is that the SAE #3 bellhousing bolt pattern is a chevy v-8 pattern. This is simply BS being perpetuated by some folks over on the Landcruiser section of the PBB. The two patterns are NOT the same, the trannies that came behind the different engines are NOT the same...

There are ways to get something to bolt up to the isuzu bellhousing using SAE #3 bellhousings/adapters...

The confusion is that there is a #3 SAE flywheel housing, and then you need an adatper to connect what ever trany you are trying to connect to.

The SAE flywheel housings are engine specific ie Cummins fits Cummins and Isuzu fits Isuzu only.

Check out Diesel Talk here:

Here are some GM ones.

These two are both by me. The Isuzu 4BDs are a sae #3 pattern, it just has the holes in different locations, 15 degrees rotated counter clockwise. This is from an Isuzu tech. From what I've seen of the bellhousings, it would be pretty easily redrilled to mate a sae #3 bellhousing to an Izusu sae #3, but you will have to redrill. No mystery to it.

Secondly, the Chevy pattern = sae #3 was all caused for me, and for at least a year I believed they were the same pattern. This is all from one little misread about Cummins being able bolt to Chevy patterns that are sae #3. And I started it and possibly a million people believe it these days.

Anyways...

There is some useful info on it on my site though...
