IFS suspension questions...

Alright i know isuzu was the first to make an ifs 4x4 truck (the good old 79 chevy luv) but were they one of the first to use toirsion bar front ends too? (the chevy luvs had torsion bar IFS since 72)
Sorry just a random tech question...

no.

The first automobile to use torsion bar suspension was the 1921 Leyland. Along with most porsches, beginning with the 1933 Volkswagen prototypes. By 1954, 21 makes of European cars were equipped with torsion bars.

This predates the isuzu by a bit.

I don't know anything about IFS (or Isuzu) history, but I am confused by your post. You stated 79 Chevy luv as first IFS truck, but then you stated that chevy luvs had torsion bar IFS since 72. Are these dates backwards??

he was probably referring to his chevy luv, but chevy luvs in general were first made in 1972

the luvs started being produced in 1972 whith the torsion bar IFS, i was wondering if this year was the first for an ifs truck. The same suspension was converted to 4x4 trucks in 1979. The 79 luvs were the first IFS 4x4. is that a bit better?

I know this thread is old as dirt but, don't forget about the early 60's Wagoneer with IFS. I think they were the first mass production IFS 4x4.
