motor mount questions

ok so my new project truck is an 87 trooper XS. it has a really hurt 4cyl in it, not sure the displacement, but either way it's gonna come out, it looks like a vacuum line nightmare.

my question directs towards the motor mounts and attachment at the frame. i have an 89 trooper with the 2.8L v-6 that is running/driving etc but the truck is shot... the 87 is a complete budget truck so what i'm getting at is how much of a PITA is it going to be to put the entire v-6 motor/tranny/tcase combo into the 87?

are the motor mounts at all similar? or do they share a common base that each is adapted to, i haven't actually gotten out to look at them yet, i have just been thinking about this... if it comes down to fabbing up mounts i'll do it, it'll be worthwhile and basically free.

let me know what you swap guys think (by the way, the 87 is getting SASd with a J-10 widetrack dana 44)

They are probably different, but with a welder and a drill and a tape measure it's more than likely doable. bigger pain might be the wiring, dash, and also the 2.8 truck would use an in-tank pump, the 2.3 4cyl that was probably in your 87 uses a mechanical pump mounted on the engine. Also the 2.3 was carb and the 2.8 is efi. I'm thinking the mounts will be cake, and the rest will take more head scratching.

the tank from the 2.8L truck is in mint condition and has a brand new pump in it. so basically everything is just a straight transplant over to the 87. i'm sure i can fab up motor mounts on the 87 frame and everything. some might call it a stupid swap for a powerless motor, i call it a running/driving truck on a budget

yeah no doubt about it, one running truck > two busted heaps keeping the grass from growing the yard

so i did some lookin while i had my 87 (4cyl) parked next to the 89(gm v-6)... and it seems like the motor mounts themselves are different or have different brackets, but how they mount to the frame is the identical so i might just be in luck. i have to take some measurements and i'll let u guys know.
