Amigo Gas Tank Lift

Well i have seen a couple of you guys cut a hole in your floor and raise the gas tank on up for more ground clerance. my question is; is it as simple as cutting a hole, putting the tank inside the cab, and ready to roll? if anyone has the time a step by step dumbass guide would help ALOT!! thanx

I guess putting it in the bed is one way but you can get 1.5 inches or more just by raising it where it's at.

I just built a bullet proof skid out of 3/16" steel for the tank and don't worry about it.

I did much like Dan. Dropped the tank, cut off the brackets, welded then up 2" higher, and bolted the tank back on. Had the modify the skid-plate bracket on the passenger's-side; but that was no big deal. I would still like the make a beefier skid plate if I ever get around to it; but moving the tank up means I now rarely hit it anyway. If its an off-road only vehicle, you could move the tank into the bed area as you stated. Just make sure you secure it down with some straps and handle the venting appropriately... especially if you smoke inside the vehicle
