Tubbed out XJ
Well I Hope I'm posting this in the right place, it's my first post so bare with me... This is the tail about my '94 XJ Sport that was in a roll over and deemed a "write off" by the insurance company, it was given to me for free so i decided to have some fun on a budget.... a very small budget... running a 5 speed with stock 3.07 gears, open diff's
This was the first day of beating on it, broke a leaf but just kept on jeepin. replaced the rear springs then hit this jump the bruuutal landing of the jump, this separated both axles tubes from the front diff, dented the exhaust and oil pan, popped the 2 front wheels and flat spotted the rims, also bent the outer part of the axle tubes. here's the video... http://www.break.com/usercontent/200...ep-jump-729237 the knocking is the crank dinging off the oil pan, pounded the dent out when i did the front end. View from the front of the cockeyed Dana 30 after replacing the wheels... the 4x4 still worked at this point Bent into the springs Separated from the diff since this thing was still running i figured why not replace the front end... Now this is where it turns from a bagger into a budget build... picked up a cheap set of 38" swampers and started chopping, I haven't seen this done to any other XJ's yet... after the first cut it was game on |

Chopped up a 45 gallon drum and modded it into a new fender part way done one of the rear fenders, if you're wondering how this turned out, it is very very stiff, over 400 rivets between the 2 rear fenders... at the time of this photo there are only the temperary tabs but it got the full treatment for the entire rounded edge. I had to put a 2" lift block in the front because you can only hammer the inner fenders up so far before it starts to mess with your clutch pedal then got some old chunks of conveyor belt that a buddy had laying around and made some fully flexable fender flares for all 4 corners. Teachin' her how to swim after $20 at the local plumbing shop and a cone filter covered by a coffee can to keep the filter dry Huckin' mud like a champ!! |

So I've been surfing around the site today and really hadn't realized what can be done with an XJ when a guy is willing to truly start chopping things up. Being from northern British Columbia people around where I live don't really mod things all that far, it's the usual buy a lift kit and tires and have a "crazy" rig. I'm not stopping here now that I know what can be done, I'm planning to eventually get some full size axles under this thing since I've already got a set out of a 88 ford 1 ton, it's only a matter of time and this site will be what gets me there, great posts guys I'll try to keep up on the mods I follow through with. Jeep On!!

The badass jump pics and carnage have earned you a limited free pass though... Go buy a welder, a grinder w/ a shit load of cut off wheels, a sawzall, and maybe a plasma cutter and a tubing bender... Then get to work...
