i don't know exactly what you're looking for but i can tell you the xj springs measure 23 x 28-5/8 with a 323 guage and the chevy springs are actually 64" long measuring 32 x 32 with a 360 guage and have dutched (berlin) eyes while the jeeps eyes are rolled on top of the spring....only thing these two springs have in common are they're 2-1/2" wide so if you're looking to put these on then relocate hangers and shackles accordingly.

So basically, the Xj springs are 51 ~ 52" in length with an offset pin......

You will have to relocate both the spring mount, and the shackle mount on the frame

Go to your jeep, measure 32" in front of and in back of your center pin, and that will be where the new mounts will be (approximately, assuming you aren't changing wheelbase)

Hope that helped a little

norcalxj on this board is the only one who has done it that I've seen. Search under that username and you should find some pics of his rig. Although I believe he sold it awhile back. I'm assuming you're inboarding the springs?

Also search "norcalxj" on www.xjdb.com The pics are hosted there as well.

I have a bunch of buddies that have ran the 63" chevs in the back of their XJ's. Easy conversion. Same thing as the Toyota guys do (spring handers, shackle, hangers, and shackles). The set up works awsome.

Look at username wobblewagon and his cherokee he is currently selling. He is using these exact springs on his cherokee under the unibody rails. He has amazing flex.---------Kyle

it looks like whatever he fabbed for mounting the spring hanger and shackles runs from one end of the spring to the other.

any idea why that was done? I mean I realize you get a bit more of a drop than just putting some new hangers somewhere else... Is it a strength thing? Or did this end up being a simpler solution?

Ha! it was an accident. I bought the jeep with that sub frame in, and then pulled it out to accomidate the chevy springs. when i extended the front mount so the axle would be in the right spot, I forgot that the subframe had an arch to it and didn't make the extension to lay flat against the body. So When I rebuild it with roun tubing, it will be better.

I used Dodge springs in my '98. They are about 60" long. First, I sleeved the main frame rail with half of a 4x6 piece of box tubing. I mounted the springs backwards from the Dodge setup and put the back end into extended xj shackles (widened slightly for the Dodge bushing) and then mounted the front end in a spring pocket welded to the side of my sleeve. The bolt through the eye of the spring goes through the frame via a round sleeve welded into the frame and puts the bottom of the spring eye flush with the bottom of the frame. In this configuration the axle was moved back a couple inches and gave about 4" of lift compared to stock. I added a 2 " block with offset center pin to move the axle back forward an inch. I also ended up adding a second full length leaf (Dodge 1500 main leaf with the ends cut off.) I'm sitting somewhere around 7" of lift and it rides well, flexes fairly well, and hasn't sagged. I kept the stiff Dodge overload leaf as the springs wanted to distort without it. It also acts as a progressive bump stop, anti wrap bar, and gives a little lift. I've got pics, but no way to post here. Jeff

I've been thinking about trying this on my XJ after seeing some Yotas doing well with them. Do you guys think you could get as low as 4" with this setup if the mounts were positioned right or is there too much arch?

mine ended up sitting at about 7". The front hanger is at stock height just mounted forward. In the rear I welded a new hanger about 3" lower than stock. With the 3" longer than stock shackles it all works amazingly well.

I need to top it off with a traction bar and some stiffer front coils and it should be golder
