Anyone running a Stak 3sp yet?
Anyone running a Stak in their XJ yet? I've seen maybe one picture of one install, but haven't seen too much on an XJ. I know the floor will need reworked, just wondering how much and what else has to be done for one.
I know Capt. Nemo had issues with his, but I wouldn't be using it on the street more then a couple miles here and there. Anyone else having issues with theirs? Anyone else have any thoughts, or have any pictures on the install? I figure while the cage is going in, I might as well rip up the floor at the same time. |

No pics.. but I did an install on a good buddies rig for him. Its a big SOB. Thankfully I installed the Clayton Coil conversion long arm kit at the same time. That kit hangs down about 4" below the frame, and that Stak ALMOST touches that kit!!! We didnt cut the floor, just beat it up a TON. Its a TIGHT fit.
It leaks out the front output, we need to pull it out and have stak redo it, but have not had time to do it for him yet. I like it... kinda. Super cool looking, performs good, great customer service, but I just am not sure I want something that big. I may look into their Dana 300 replace a case down the road.. who knows.

The two and three speeds are dimensionally the same. Here's a few of the pics I have:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I had to raise my seat an inch to clear the tunnel as well. I am running TnT Customs skidplate and long arms which is almost flush with the frame rails and raises the tranny mount up an inch. As mentioned, the case is HUGE and HEAVY. It really is a beautiful piece of equipment, and the company's customer service is great, it just didn't work out for me. There was plenty of room under my rig for the replace t-case

So it sounds like I'd be better off waiting and seeing if they get stuff figured out? I like the idea of having more then one low range, so the 3-speed seemed like a good way to go. Sounds like I'd be better off running a 231/300 doubler or something similer?

As far as the case itself, I would just continue to search around and see how many more cases are having oil leak issues - as more and more are starting to be used. It seems like a good going over with RTV is solving most of the problems, but I'm no expert on STaK's or t-cases for that matter, so it's hard to say if that really is solving the issue or if it is a bandaid. I got tired of putting time and effort into it and finally gave up. I'm extremely happy with the alternative. Personally, if I'm in the market for a new t-case a few years down the road, I would look at a STaK again. By then I would think they would have everything dialed in with their STaK II
