wanting to know if these two transmisions are interchangable,,, 1987 jeep xj 2wd auto,,,(donor) for 1997 jeep xj 4wd auto (junk tranny) and what complications there might be,,, any help you can give is appreciated thanks

Yes they interchange.BUT you will be 2wd when done.

no, simply looking at them would have told you that.
and before you ask, you can't just swap tailshafts like a GM.
go get a 4wd trans.

If you need to start somewhere go to the NON-HARDCORE or General 4x4.

As you can see we are trying to keep this part of the forum hardcore tech for the Wagons.
