I understand that you two are probably the most hardcore of the bunch here in the Cherokee forum, but please keep in mind that this is that, a Cherokee forum. Perhaps the newbies don't consider themselves newbies to jeeps, but rather newbies to Cherokee's? I don't know, but somthing tells me they find themselves in this forum for that reason. With that said, why not try keeping the newbies around and helping them out rather than thrashing them everytime they post up and telling them to leave. Who know's maybe they'll become as hardcore as you, and you'll become best buddies!
Not trying to be an ass, just making a point.

Or they are very far from being the most hardcore... ![]() but this is PIRATE HARDCORE. What is not clear? No doubt simple tech questions need answering, thus NAXJA.org. I am very involved over there... see my user title But I get to come over here and not weed through the B.S. (or i had hoped). this place is about tech. Hardcore tech. Guys that stretch the ideas of the unibodies belong here. Thus why I am here

Can't agree more, one has to graduate to this forum. If one is looking for introductory advice, try jeepforum or naxja. If everyone takes the time to answer simple questions it will degrade this site and turn off the hard core people.

Sadly enough, Pirate has been pussified, much like this country, long before this Cherokee forum was created. The way I see it, the more people that join and possibly buy a red star, the more money PBB makes. Thats cool with me, but it is sad to see such a great thing die before my eyes. This used to be about the HARDCORE tech, now its all hug me hold me because the guy with 31's and a spacer kit got his vanna nay hurt by someones post.
Oh well. |

Very true. I've got a solid build at this point, but in the scheme of things it's nothing that hasn't been done before. Perhaps a little different in the overall package, but by now everyone and their mom has a 4-link or 3-link and it's pretty tried-and-true by now.
The fact remains that this particular forum was started with the INTENT of being an "advanced unibody" section. Non-hardcore questions about any jeep still should go in the appropriate section. There is absolutely no reason at all for this board to become a mirror of NAXJA, jeepsunlimited, or any number of different jeep sites. I'm not saying those sites are bad by any stretch - I'm on jeepin.com just as much as here, I've got membership over on NAXJA, and I totally enjoy both sites still. But to make this forum identical to those is a detriment to that level of tech, a waste of resources, and quite frankly, a waste of my time and the time of others who have for the most part surpassed the level of tech those sites have to offer.

My opinion?
Check it out vetteboy: I guess you are too hard corps to reply with an answer about your front end set up? The self proclaimed "rock god" doesn't have the time, I understand. How about an answer? E-4C

What question? There's all kinds of stuff in this forum that I've spewed already about both ends of my link setup...if I missed something you asked about it then I guess it's my bad. I'm also notoriously bad about responding to PM's because I usually only check them late at night and then forget about it the next day before replying. For the record, "rock god" is an automatically assigned user title based on number of posts when you register, and I had nothing to do with putting it there. For a better answer to the original topic of this thread, see here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showp...4&postcount=13

I figured this would turn into a pissing match. It's one thing to flame, but to tell new members to leave is another. I've been reading through most of the threads over the last week, and sure I see alot of really dumb questions asked. So what, if it doesn't have any interest to you, then why even reply to it? I don't reply to stupid questions, there's always someone out there that will be happy to answer those. Yet in this forum, there always seems to be someone telling somone to go fuck themselves.
If you guys wanna run you're forum this way, so be it. All I did was make a suggestion that might help the forum grow. Keep doing what you're doing, and all six of you can have you're own little elite forum with nothing new to add.

As elitist as it may sound, this forum isn't going to grow if it fills up with questions about troubleshooting stock electrical issues, or questions about budget boost kits and 30" tires. There is already a section for that on this board. I was hoping (along with others, all 6 of us I guess) that this section could be a spawning ground for new and reliable information about building big XJ's, not just a regurgitation of every other jeep forum on the net. That was the impression I got when it was first formed and Mo et al put out a description of it. I understand that the board has to grow and make money. You do this by getting new members, increasing advertising views (and thus ad revenue), and having those new members find it worthwhile enough to contribute money for their membership. One way to make this happen is to appeal to a wider audience, and I have no problem with that. But if a particular forum is going to be presented as hardcore tech, on a site devoted to hardcore tech, I'd like to see it stay that way...or else maybe the goals should be restated. Or maybe I just care too much.

I sorta of disagree with that, mainly because in terms of hardcore, the Cherokee groups are much smaller than the CJ's, YJ's, and TJ's. Did you not understand what I said in the original post about newbies that have Cherokee's finding their way to this forum? I don't think being new to this forum, that they understand they need to go to the non-hardcore jeep section. They probably figure, wow, a Cherokee forum....Perfect! Then they get thrown out on their asses! You could always create a welcome newbies type of thread (sticky) that explains how things go around here and direct the basic questions to the non-hardcore forum. That way they might understand how things work around here. Then maybe when they come back they'll be posting helpful and useful information in the future, rather than leaving the site all together. Or not, it's up to you guys. Excuse me, my pussy's bleeding again!

I bet all of the newbies find it out pretty quick when they are told they are huge pussies. No need for a newbie thread, no one reads those posts. They come in, ask a stupid ass question, get flamed, and then they leave or they visit the forum frequently in order to know more and ask useful questions. If I have a problem with my XJ's, I go to NAXJA.org. If I want to build something for my XJ, I look here
Pussifying this forum would be a huge shame, i say FLAME AWAY! Thats how I learned...

If asked, I'd write such a thread, in very nice terms...I'd move stuff around appropriately...but for now this particular branch of PBB seems to be a mild anarchy.

A welcome post and a mission statement post would be ideal.

I, too, want to see this forum dedicated to major modifications and up-grades not normally purchased as a kit, but that require individual ingenuity, innovation, and perseverance in design and execution. The problem, as I see it, is that there is nothing in the title of this forum to advise the would-be poster that this is a "hard-core" forum for XJ's and similar Jeep platforms. I always spend time reading most all posts, in all of the Pirate forums, and "contribute" when I can. Although, I do get tired of answereing the same questions over and over. If this forum deteriorates to principally "newbie" questiones, I'll just move on.

no trying to invade red stars area, but maybe just the name of the section can be a little confusing to newbies, shouldnt it be like Cherokee Hardcore, or unibody HC, or whatever?
I am on pirates for about a year, and even I if found no HC in my driving (33" XJ) I find a lot of good tech info in here. And as I am a moderator in a small overseas forum, I truly understand that the nebies´ Q annoy very much sometimes. But when I saw the plitted forums for the first time, I said oh Yeah a Cherokee forum great for me, later I realised that its not gonna be NAXJA, but some people may post before they realize that .....just my 0,02 Czech crowns

The mods/site owners did a shitty job of labeling this forum in the first place. There are too many lame ass "What does a lifted ZJ look like, post pics" threads and other stuff that's just as dumb here. If you haven't done a search, we're not going to do it for you.
