the WJ's have that crappy double cv driveshaft setup, the yokes can have a small lip machined off and there is meat to drill a bolt pattern, like a Toyota yoke.

IIRC, I used an '87 or '88 NP 231 u-joint yoke to replace the flanged output on an old NP 207 I had (it had the crappy constant velocity front driveshaft) in an '85 XJ. It bolted right up. Maybe you could find one in a junkyard, and snag it to give that a shot.

I think I have the opposite problem but basically. I have a 242 flange and need a 231. Here's a pic of mine, the top is 231 and bottom 242. In front of the 242 is my AA SYE that I need to bolt to. Can you switch out the flanges of a 231 and 242?

For a 231 series case, use a 94 and newer Ram 231D front output yoke. If you have a 242 series case, use a 241D (89 n newer) or 241C flat flanged yoke short style (94 and down).

Famlit TJ, it looks like you are trying to bolt a hack-and-tap SYE compatible CV to your new SYE. Measure the distances between bolts and I will see if I have a 32 spline yoke that will fit that.

I have 2 front DS that mate to the SYE. That bottom shaft is a Tom woods and had the 242 flange. I was going to take a flange from a front 231 DS and try to switch out the 242 flange. It looks like it will work but I won't know until I get it apart. I just want to be sure I have everything I need before I do the SYE and new rear springs.

The flanges on the 242 and 231 are interchangable. I switched mine around today. I am good to go now.

alright so the deal i got goin is that i cant keep a front driveshaft in my hunk of crap cuz the angle is so high that i have to grind too much off the yoke on the t case end that i end up busting one of the ears off the front t case yoke. so now im looking at those off set u joints from tom woods. i wonder if one of those at my t case end would actually help me out some??

You could do something like this.Thats my rear DS it's a D50 TTB axle joint stuffed in 2x.25" tube and a plate welded on the end.Think they get 40*+ in angle.

Yeah not my idea...but a good one.Seems to work fine.Cant find D50 axles, are you serious? The things litter the wrecking yards.

As far as a flange goes sounds like some dodges, grands and cherokee's with 242's.

Do you have a crossmember drop? TC lowering kit or whatever?
Please keep in mind, when you drop the transfer case... You HELP the rear driveshaft angle by lowering the rear output... BUT you HURT the front driveshaft angle because you're tipping the front yoke up.

If you have the TC lowered, ditch it. This will help your front driveshaft angle issue.

You probably have too much lift as well. Trim your coils to lower your rig down an inch or two, this will make things MUCH better.
