'cage testing...it works

My dad, 4xSanta, rolled the XJ end over end 5 times last night on cleghorn. He was wearing 5 point harnesses and still banged his head and arms up good. He's gonna wear a helmet from now on and strap in tighter. I'll try get some better pics but it looks like the cage did not fail at all and did its job, would have been nice to have a front grill hoop though.

The cage was a D&C extreme roll cage, basic cage with A/B/C pillars with alot of extra "triangulation" added by us.

The rollover pics from Cal (NAXJA member):

The cage, some older pics from when the cage was new:

Looks like it worked pretty good! The winch and everything up front still looks like its ready to go except for a couple of dents and such.

They picked up the PSC hydraulic steering pump pulley halfway down the hill, the winch was brand new never used warn XD9000i swapped before this run and will need at least a new top cover thing, worked for getting up on the trailer though. It also had a brand new metal 3 row radiator that might be busted.

That doesn't look good. Was it from hitting a padded, or an un-padded portion of the cage?

He doesnt know, its padded well around the head area but he said when he droped out of the belts (upside down) that he hit his head good.

I don't know if your Dad lives alone or not, but you should check on him this morning. ANY time you hit your head you just need to be aware of the delayed symptoms of potential problems.

Glad he is Ok. Met him last year at Moab in October, we were the crazy bastards building the transmission on the table next to him.

Cool guy, let us borrow some tools and an air compressor, and stood by with a beer to hassle us along the way! LOL

Glad to see he is ok.

The pics your probably looking at are old before padding. There was padding all around, the roof caved in above the head and thats what he hit. We are gonna use the existing cage in a new body and will gain about an inch or so of head clearance by sleeving the tube at the pillars and getting it as close to the roof as possible then possibly some A to B pillar supports if can clear the head.
