CAD Drawings of XJ
Hello All,
I'm searching for CAD drawings of an XJ as I am designing an exo-cage with inner-cage for it. Does anyone have or know where I can find these files? I have access to Solid Works, Unigraphics NX-4, Solid Edge, and Auto Desk, so I could probably import most file formats into one of the programs. Thanks! Brian |

I suppose it is similar to that of computer programming. Why write a program that already exsists if you can find it already done. If you ever need a model of something I have already laid out, let me know.

Thank you! I would still be interested in a 3d model if someone already has one done. Thanks again. Last edited by MADHORSE; 07-11-2007 at 10:04 AM. |

The only things I got accurate enough measurements off of were the tires. 31.25x11R16. Bolt pattern appears to be 5 on 4.5" Is it lifted? The undercarriage doesn't seem accurate.
i'd say the thing looks real close, but definetly not perfect. How'd you draw this? I'm assuming that you didn't measure every little thing. Last edited by HardcorewannabeXJ; 07-11-2007 at 12:49 PM. |

This is pretty cool to mess around with, here is 7.5" of lift with stock wheelbase (assuming axle location was correct) 39.5" tires 17" rims, 8 on 170mm bolt pattern, 4" hubs. I'm going to stretch the wheelbase and add in my air shocks to show approximate mounting location as well as virtually "flex" the axle to show the approximate amount of fender trimming to be done.

A couple of my buddies are DCX engineers, I have been on them for years about this, and no true cad modeling exists for the XJ, not from Chrysler, not even the reduex for 97 was a complete CAD drawing, 95% of it was drawn by hand in 94-95 for the 97 remodel. But if any one happens to find or has a real close 3d model of the chassis I would be very interestd in a copy.

Playing with the front 16" 2.5" Fox Air Shock mounting locations. Wheelbase is stretched 2" forward in the front, and 1" back in the rear. 7.5" lift over stock. Ride height is Air Shocks at 4". Shocks angled in 5 degrees ar ride height. Front differential is a D60 (yes that gear pattern is accurate, however the housing is most definetly not) 45" C to C 67" WMS. Wheels and tires shown are 39.5"x13.5"R17, 17x9 5" backspacing wheels. Flex pic shown has compressed shock running at 1.5" extension, with the droop side at full 16" extension. I'm not sure I'm liking how far in these will have to be mounted in order to keep the tire from rubbing on them, but I can play with the mounting angle and location more for sure to hopefully eliminate that.
![]() I kept the stocker on 31"x11"R16" for some kind of scale. |

Yeah I got ya, but I thought you wanted serious drawings, like engineer sheets or something. A buddy and I had to spec and measure everything out for a full front clip, but I dont have those, he does and we kind of had a falling out

I would really like to, but time is limited these days.
I found a link to a mock-up approximate 3d model in Solid Works. Its needs alot of detail work done; however, taking a few measurments from the XJ and applying them to the model should clean it right up. Thats the awesome thing about a 3d model. Username: anon Password: anon The folder to download is called Complete.zip ftp://phatserver.net/web/ Here are a couple JPEG's of the some work I did to the model last night. Here is also a pic of my Jeep. ![]() ![]()

You have too much time on your hand. now put some tread lugs on the tires and copyrotate them around the tire diameter and union it into one solid tire
and get rid of that weiner axle up front.

More specifically I'd rather see a 3d model of the undercarriage for link and crossmember designs, rather then a 3d body model for Exo/bumper/fender design. Although both would be the best.
I don't have access to solidworks yet but that would be awesome. |

Well I finally got solidworks and am in the process of learning how to use it. I managed to take some rough measurements from my D60 and drew it out on the CAD. If this cherokee is in any kind of scale, that axle's gonna look sick! Here are some pics.
