Been out of the sport for about 3 years now. Picked me up a cherry 90 MJ to build for the 2010 ECORS season. Looking to make it a bit unique as well as more functional. I'm looking at bobbing the bed about 10-12 inches to aid in departure and aestetics as well.

I have been looking for a fairly detailed write up with some measurements to start from. Looked on here and on NAXJA as well as ComancheClub, but havent found quite what I'm looking for.

Any links would be great

If you're looking to retain the tailgate, here's another MJ that I've seen on the web.

This is mine... You could retain the tailgate if you took a little less out. I chopped it right at the shackle you can see the big X frame brace sticking out preventing the use of the tailgate.

Here are a few more pics. I would have done a nicer job but the truck is so rusty we didn't really care... But the bobbed long bed has a really unique look to it, distinctive...

Makes for a nice departure angle with 38's...

the problem with keeping the tailgate is the frame being in the way.if you notice on the bottom pic is that 4" of frame between the bed and the bumper will prevent the tailgate from sitting where it should be.if you bob 10" from the bed you'll have to cut the frame back enough ,problem with that is you will lose the shackle, you will have to get shorter springs and relocate the shackle.just like what it appears twisty has done
