callin it a night... ran out of gas and wire and also burnt up my last welder tip and plasma consumables today.. all within an hour..
that was an expensive trip to air gas.... anyone have an online hookup for consumables??got the rails plated and capped up to the front of the rockers and started the rear suspension crossmember.. will have that finished by noon tomorrow probably.. also gunna have to cut up and rework my rear truss to better accept coil springs vs air shocks which was the original plan.. should have the rear sittin on its own by tomorrow night.. that will include pictures for sure..

finally took some pictures.. got the rear 4 link cross member abour 90% complete... still need to box the bottom side of the LCA mounts and a few gussets here and there..
also need to cut some new UCAs.. these particular links im reusing off my last crawler that never really got finished haha but.. i'll cut some longer UCAs an that'll put the pinion up where it belongs and make is so they're not maxed out of adjustment on the rod ends.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

x2 on cyberweld, got my welder from them. I like the rear xmember, any plans to support the UCA mounts more? also instead of reworking the truss (remaken it?) why not just notch out for the base plate for the coil pad and weld it to the truss?

I like how you did your upper mounts. I'll have to remember that for my next build. Any plan the round the edges to match the lower mounts?

kinda nice seeing someone "un-noob" the Cherokee forum.
To bad you are going to go back to school and we aren't going to see updates until summer.

today was the last day i had to work on the XJ.. goal for the week was to get it rolling, so in order for that to happen, the front suspension needed to be designed and built today..... got it done =) minus the track bar...... kinda scabbed somethin that is EXTREMELY TEMPORARY i didn't even want to flex it with that piece of shit in there... strictly for holding shit still while it gets rolled around the shop till i can get an engine for it..
everything as far as the front suspension goes is only firmly tach'd together, in case i need to move anything around when the engine tranny an t case get set in.. my DD is the same exact thing as this rig **'93 2 door XJ 4.0 auto** so i had something to pull measurements from as far as the crossmember placements go.. ![]() ![]() EDIT: dont ask why that axle mount is adjustable... my dad drilled the holes in it and i told him to drill three holes in it at 8" 9" and 10" of separation... i got 5" 6.5" 8" and 9.5" haha.. i'll make it work..... if not, i'll make a new one an drill the holes in it myself.. ![]() ![]() ![]() now for the wonderful excuse of a track bar.. again.. if you were to lazy to read the above paragraph..... TEMPORARY..... ![]() ![]() ![]() now some overalls of what the past 8 days has brought.. but first a reminder of what it looked like LAST Saturday morning...

I am going to tell you right now. You are going to have to redo that upper 3 link mount. I know the complete lack of space that is there when the engine and trans are in the vehicle. And that mount is BIG.
When doing suspension work on these things you either need TONS of measurements of where the drivetrain is going to be or have the drivetrain in the vehicle. anyways. Everything looks good. haha

Nate, Crawler has a strong argument there. The mount size itself I dont nessicarily see being a huge problem as at your point a hole in the floorboard is minute, but it looks like you've got it sitting where the pan/housing will be and something tells me it wont fit or be even close. I cant say for sure, but it looks like it.
I know your on your last day for work and mainly looking for a roller, but Id carefully remeasure and check clearances before you burn that home. Set-up looks nice though and that trac arm is bacontacular! I see your little portaban mishap on the coil mount there.... It acctually woulda been just fine to shave a chunk out, but looks like it came out just fine though and i like how you utilized the leaf bolt too. Good work! ![]() EDIT: On second thought, you may be ok. I just went and took a look at my rig (also AW4) and it looks like your might be clear. I'd double/triple check though. If you need some measuments let me know.

fuck dude.. my house got broken into when i was gone.. none of my shit is gone, i think cuz i spend all my money on shit for my jeep instead of on nice tv's an high end electronic shit... but my 3 other roommates all together now.. here's the list..
glock 9mm 2, 42" plasma flat screens 20" flat screen surround sound system playstation 3 + games + controllers a fuck load of movies burton snowboard digital camera 2 lap tops 2 long boards they also got ahold of the set of spare keys for the only truck in the driveway another snowboard.. think it was a ride.. RC trophy truck 2 original Xbox's + games + controllers (who the fuck would steal an original Xbox... they can have that..) i think thats it..... but my roommate Kyle got home about 8:30 saturday night an the sliding glass door was WIDE open an every light in the house was on.. (yes the house was completely secured before we left on break) They got in through an older wooden frame window with a piss poor lock on it, looks like they pry'd it open an climbed over the entertainment center, then took everything out the slider.. every room in the house got it's door kicked in.. which is absolutely ridiculous considering they were all unlocked... who the fuck kicks in an unlocked door... ![]() reminds me of Dane Cook's, vicious circle.. our house wasn't the only house that was broken into, there were 4 others all of which had some tie to a football player (everyone who lives here plays football for the college down the street) and all the homes tenants were gone to far away places for spring break.. hmmmm.. this one will be a toughy to figure out, but when/if it does.. im kicking your fucking balls in for kicking my UNLOCKED door in your stupid mother fucker.. ![]() EDIT: not sure why i said that ^^ who knows.... he's got a couple laptops now, maybe he'll register to pirate4x4..

Wow that sucks.
I'm not going to lie. I would kick every door down too. Just because I want to kick a door down. Glad to hear none of your stuff was taken. I was that guy that had all the goodies in my apartment at school so I would have been screwed.

Him not having homeowner's ins. doesn't hurt or help you either way.
That's between him and his mortgage company, unless he owns it outright. Too bad your roomies had to learn about renter's ins. the hard way.
