2004 Jeep Liberty SAS
Here are a few shots of my Progression from Basically stock to Where it is now…..
![]() Here it is with my minister of finance Emilie @ 2 weeks into life with us…. The LightBar was the first Mod. ![]() Then Fast Forward 1 year later. OME Springs installed It worked pretty good with the 3"'s of lift we had there. ![]() Forward another 3 Months I finally got some 31's on it. Between this photo and the last it was smashed. We added a light to the lightbar and never put the "Grille Guard" back on. ![]() This is the Original Rear Shock location which limited flex alot. ![]() This is probably the Best, bang for your buck Mod we did to the Libby so far. Thanks for the Welding Help from my buddy Del ![]() Once I saw how it Flexed after the Shock mount Mod, I instantly bought a set of 33's before taking any pictures. Also at this points I found a way to bring the front end up 2 inches which turned into me breaking a lot of CV axles. As soon as I Decided to go SFA, I called up Reg @ CVO in Moncton,NB and started getting some parts Together. Well this was the Project so Far….. and Here is a build list for our SFA swap so far. Front Axle is a Dana 30HP out of a 2000 XJ with 760x shafts F.O.A. Coilovers up front 12" Travel (450lb over 500lb Springs) Bilstien 5125's with 10" of travel out back OME 891 rear springs – Toyota Prado 90 Series Ford F-Series Steering Box (May become a Grand Cherokee box soon) 1-Ton Steering The Arms are from a Rough Country TJ L.A. upgrade kit The rear end has been converted from a Tri-Link to a Double Triangulated 4-Link setup. 4.56 Gears with a Aussie Locker up front and factory LSD out back I finally settled on tires 35x12.5R15 General Grabber Red Letters on Ion Alloy 174 aluminum wheels. Ballistic Fabrication Dana30 cover. Riddler Chrysler 8.25" Cover out back ZJ Brake prop valve SmittyBilt X2O 10k winch Some Mid Build Pictures: ![]() ![]()

![]() 4-Link all mocked in ![]() ^^WAY TOO BIG^^ ![]() ^^This is with the Original OME lift spring installed^^ ![]() ^^That Being said I'm on the Hunt for a Different Spring for the Rear, we decided on running the OME 891's instead they put the ride height between the Tall springs and The smaller ones with the bumper and spare tire not mounted yet, which is a lot more acceptable to me. And then Reg had an unfortunate accident that but a stop too the build for several months. Remember everybody respect your tools and always use the right tool for the Job! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here She is at actual ride Height, It's going to be a beast when it's finished up. ![]() Back on it's own weight after 7 months The ride height needs to be adjusted up some.

![]() ![]() ![]() Bolt in shock hoops not a first on a SAS libby but there aren't many. ![]() ![]() The Built (as built as a Dana 30 can be) front Axle, Yes those stock mounts are going to be swapped for some fabbed up units. The view down the side, the tires don't stick out as much as I thought they would which according to my "Minister of Finance" means I don't have to build tube Flares yet lol.

![]() SmittyBilt X20 10,000lb winch, as soon as I get it setup I am going to swap to the Synthetic Line I picked up, shes one heavy beast with steel line on 95lbs on my bathroom scale. ![]() The Remote has a Magnet built in which will probably be a useful feature. ![]() This shot shows the rear control arm Mounts pretty well, they shouldnt get me hung up. Well for now this is how she sits stay tuned as there will be alot of updates coming your way in short order! PS: if you don't like it

One of the problems I have come against on this Build is that the NV242J that is in it has a 29 spline rear output and I can't find a 29 spline yoke for a CV style driveshaft anywhere, Barring swapping out the T-case which isn't in the current budget (other wise I would swap to a 241OR which is a direct bolt in, it also has a reverse shift pattern to the 242J which I could live with). Has anyone know where a guy could come up with a 29-Spline slip yoke i could cut and use for a Hack N' tap? Non of the big drive shaft shops seem to want to help me out with a solution one place actually laughed at the idea of a SAS'd Liberty, I'll get the micrometer out tonight and get an actual output shaft diameter I lost the piece of paper I had it written on.

Looks good so far, but those 35's are a bit big for a Lib. There gonna rub on just about everything. I have an 05 CRD, and I've been contemplating a SAS, but she's my daily driver. I don't wanna put bigger tires on, and loose my 30MPG!
I'll be watching your build, and I can't wait to see it out on some rocks!

The suspension is limited to 4" of up travel so the tires don't rub at all at full stuff there's at least 3/4" clearance to the nearest anything quite a bit more has been done/cut up since the most recent picture I posted here I'll have more soon (the closest thing to rubbing is the rear tire to top of fender) The rest has enough clearance to bolt up 37's. I really don't give a shit about MPG's tho it's not a Prius it's a Jeep, as long as it crawls I'll be happy.

Future plans include either a HP44/9" or 14B/60 Full Width Combo and some 42" PitBull Rockers, The "Minister of Finance" says I can't put those on or turn it into a truck until it's paid off (we have about a years worth of payments left then it gets really interesting!)

. If you don't have anything to say that will somehow help me build it better . I honestly don't give 2 shits about people who have nothing better to do than Flame other peoples shit. Sure it's being built fairly Mediocre right now There's a 231/300 Doubler waiting to be built in my basement right now, I guess now I'm giving away more secrets.....

For a Lib, it's a good build! How'd you cut your forearm? Cut off disc?

The Doubler is going to be a home built Doubler a kit would be too easy, The guy with the cut arm has one in his Big YJ not hard to build but you have to know someone who can re-spline the main shaft. It's another one of those parts I can build now but have to wait a year to install, I can't piss off the "Minister of Finance" She wears the financial pants in our family lol. Which is why I'm trying to come up with a cheap way to hack n' tap the 242 that's in it for now, but it has an oddball 29-spline output I checked the Spicer catalog tonight may have found something but got to lazy to head to the garage to remeasure the diameter of the output.
The guy with the Cut Forearm is Reg from CVO (Custom Vehicle Outfitters) Moncton he was cutting the exhaust off up by the header with a 7" cut off disc in a grinder with no guard wrong tool for the job. Once the tube cut it pinched the blade causing it to explode and kick out into his arm, He's lucky it hit his arm from the angle he was working at it could have been much worse. He has no feeling in his pinky and part of his palm, that cut was right to the bone it happened about 2 minutes before I pulled into the shop that night he's also very lucky there where people around.

Here's a few shots of the WJ box Mock up, that box is the mock up box it has cracked case. In the back you can see the new MM location as well, The motor has been raised about 1.5"
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This setup really threw a wrench into the Coilover hoops time for a do-over there too I guess. Reg has plans to angle the shocks slightly rearward in a more race inspired setup.

Picked up a Cheap arse MileMarker suckdown winch and started figuring out the air intake kinda decided to run a Windstar intake possibly up through the cowl into a Hummer style snorkel inlet.
![]() Something like this TJ setup an open element filter under the hood of this thing would suck a lot of Hot air dirt and water in.

This is a good build. Figuring it out for yourself, check. Doing it yourself, check. Much better/beefier parts, check. Loss of blood, check. The only thing i can see missing is either an empty beer can, a dog, or a hot chick in the background of at least one of your pictures. Keep up the good work

interested in seeing how capable this thing is...or isn't when it's done.
This does not belong in hardcore, I don't see a single damn cinder block holding something up.
