Alaskan CJ
Started off with this 1970 kaiser cj5 that I traded for a halfrack of Corona. I thought it was such a good deal that
i got him a 18 pack, though! ![]() Pulled off the tub and it became immediately apparent that I wanted something a little more heavy duty. ![]() So i bought two 20' sections of 2 x 6 x 3/16" box and got to work. ![]() ![]() ![]() Got a little distracted with this purchase! ![]() But did pick up a tbi 454 out of a 93 burban. ![]() So... the plans: 116" wb rockwells 454 465 hydro clutch need a 32 spline 205 and adapter tub streeeeetch chev 56"'s on 4 corners keep it simple stupid Got this cool little press break for my shop press. ![]() ![]() Wasted some more cashish on my Katoom.

Been a while since I did anything, so i hung the front springs, which are Chevy 56's. The shackle angle turned out ok without the rear eye hitting the frame when they are totally flat.

Picked up some new 3/8 center pins and put the leaf packs back together. I took out the overload and the bottom two leafs to start. If anyone is running chevy 56's in front, let me know your leaf set-up. It will have a big block.
![]() Prepped the front spring perches for welding. ![]() After evaluating the tub, it going to be easier to build my own. The rust repair and stretching to 115" WB .....screw that, I will keep this one for rough measurements, then it will go bye bye.

How are the Rockwells going to do w/ the leaf springs? I have heard some nasty stories about bad front axle wrap. W/ the torque from your big block, I am guessing that will only increase. Looks like a good start. Keep the pics coming.

99tj - I'm in Eagle River, but I have a cabin with my bros on the other side of the mountains past Seldovia, Petrof bay. Its out and around Gore Point.
Cut and tacked some BBC motor mounts today.
