Post 4.2L MPI Kit users, I have a ??? for you.

What kind of Cap and Rotor do you use for this kit? I thought that it was the same as on a 95 YJ but it is not. Does anyone know the right answer?

The cap and rotor is included in the kit when you buy it. Its a complete kit so you don't have to go out and buy differnt things to make it work. Unless you bought the kit second hand from someone and they didn't give you the cap and rotor you might have to call Hesco and get the parts from them. When I have done a tune up on mine I have just gone down to the local parts store and bought a rotor, cap and plug wires for a 95 YJ. Fit right on without any problems. Maybe you don't have the right cap and rotor?

Cool

I believe the instruction sheet has a list of part numbers for everything that's included. It may be a '94 type cap but the part number gets you the right one every time!

Whoops! Just reviewed the instruction sheet. They only give a part number for the distributor. That number should still help you. A 95 vehicle is OBDII while a 94 is OBDI which a somewhat different system. Hope this helps

Accorrding to the instruction sheet everything is based off the 95. If they made different kits to work with different years I have no idea. Like I said I used a 95 cap and rotor with no problem. If yours won't accept it maybe thats not the distributor that came with the kit and the guy before you switiched it out to something else. If you are unsure you better call Hesco and talk to them. There is also a web site that has the instructions for the kit. You can just print them from there and have your own copy. I will see if I still have the link and post it on here for you.

Fawk! I hate when things arent what they seem. Well I guess untill hesco returns my Email I will just have to go to the parts store and look at the cap and rotor for a 94 and see what it looks like.

I have 2 sets of installation instructions that I printed off the internet. Both those links have now expired. I am sure more can be found out there with a little searching. One set said it is based off a 94 the other said 95. A local 4x4 shop here in town that knows the guys at hesco pretty well and installs these kits told me that is based off a 95. All I know is that when I have gone in for parts(MAP sensor, TPS, Cap, Rotor)I have always asked for parts for a 95 and they have always worked well. Forget the e-mail thing and call hesco direct. Might even catch someone there today. The number is 205-251-1472. Good luck to you. You might want to even get a hold of Loppy. I know he had the kit for a while before he did his conversion. See what year he used for parts.

I figured it out. I needed the Cap and Rotor off a 94 wrangler. Go figure... I just went to the parts store and did the trial and error thing...

Talking

Thanks for getting that info.
I've been meaning to get spares to carry on the trail.

Does anyone carry an extra crank position sensor? I've got a couple of friends with Cherokees that have been stuck because of those and the MPI system has it out in front.
