$8K sounds kinda high....but I've never bought or sold a used CJ...I say you buy a complete stocker (the more rust the better starting point) and go at it!
Oh yeah, and it don't really matter much if it appeals to me does it? Damn, one more edit...the tranny could be important to know, because if its stock, you'll want to replace it, because a T5 (forgot the year we're talking about here) or T4 or pretty much any stock CJ tranny won't hold up too well to a V8, especially if a 16 year old is drivin' it. [ 08-27-2001: Message edited by: 1982 CJ-7 ] [ 08-27-2001: Message edited by: 1982 CJ-7 ]

8K is sorta pricey but if the engine is in tip top shape and installed right and the body is in good shape I would say go for it. I just gave 6k for a 85 CJ-7 w/hardtop in darn near perfect condition with stock stuff. The choice is yours....

The red will make it go faster, blue is better for rocks, green gives it more power, orange will ren better at extreem angles.
maybe you should go for a paintjob! seriously though it sounds high. I paid $1200 for my cj5 but it already had some sh*t done to it, but it is a '67.

For a base line, I just bought an 85 CJ7 with a warmed over 350 for $6000 in Austin. Stock T5 and 20 rear. No rust, garaged. Got it with an 8k Ramsey, full steel doors and new 32x11.50 BFGMTs.
I'm a dumbass and haven't even wheeled it yet. Instead I'm right in the middle of installing a 465 and fighting off "junk vehicle" tickets because the cops think the jackstand under my oil pan is permanent. Fuckers.
