AW4 spline count
The AW4 should be available with 21 and 23 spline output shaft.
As i want to connect my DANA300 i need the 23 spline version. How can i define it. Can i see it without disamble or is it addicted from the year of manufacture. Thanks Alex |

i am pretty sure that ALL AW4s are 23

you confirmed that there are different spline counts and picked a year to guess when they changed...95-97ish? oh, let's go in the middle with 96....great post man... thanks dumb ass

23 spline was sporadically used since late 89.
depends on... really, what they just had laying around. if you want to get technical, it wasn't a changeover per se, but as Jeep always does... a random sort of change... they were ALL 23 spline after 91. the first ones showed up in 89

from what i found out early years came with both depending on if it came with a 231 ora 242 and after 92 or so ? they all were 23
just hear say, look for my post on a D300 into a a XJ i think it was in the gen 4x4 under making a XJ into a tow rig

not quite...
242's could be 21 or 23 spline, same with 231s from 89-91 it truly was a random thing. I have SEEN different combinations of the like between 89-91. they were ALL 23 spline from 92 and up. |
