Post Details for TJ axle shaft in YJ Dana 30...

I've heard of putting a TJ front axle shaft into the passenger side of a YJ to bypass the vacuum mess. What else do you need to do? Put a seal down in the diff? Somewhere else in the tube?

Thanks!

somebody over on naxja did it in his XJ witha vac. disconnect on it. i think there was grinding on the inner housing to get a sal in there...look for 95.5 yj sahfts to get the 297x joint but still keep the vacum disconnect set up.

Does the oil make it all the way to the vacuum disconect? On most all frontends the seal is just after the splines so no oil makes it into the tubes.

Yes the oil does go to the vac disco. Check "why switch to a 44" thread, it is discussed there.
