Don't know the answer to your question, but check out these mufflers. I heard them on a demo engine at the swap meet and they sound somewhat quiet until you rap the throttle and they get a little louder, good sound!

BTW Loco, the sound is just the opposite. There somewhat loud at low rpm's but when you rev them out they quiet up and tone down alot. I heard they were designed for nascar to keep the races quiter at high rpm's.

depends what RPMs you want to make your power. too much flow hurts low end, too little flow hurts high end. pipe diameter, crossover/no crossover, tailpipe and muffler all play a part.
Have you talked to a *good* muffler shop? You'd be surprised what they know. Find a good local shop that sets up hot rods and see what they say. Hopefully they'll ask you where you want your power, how loud you want... If not keep shopping.
