Post D70 better than a 60??

I did a couple searches and couldn't find much. I have the chance to get a 70 w/ 4.10s for 100 bucks. I am building a yj 258 TF999 D300 d44 front and either a 9 inch, 60 or now maybe a 70.
Questions are
how much lower does the 70 hang than a 60?
how much stronger?
Is there a detroit made for it?
should i wait for a cheap 60 or jump on the 70
thanks

I think the 70 is 3/4" lower than a 60. You will almost be guaranteed 1 1/2" 35 spline axles. And many lockers, as well as gears down to 7.17 are available. GET IT!

I doubt it hangs that much lower...the D60 and D70 use the same diff cover, it may hang a 1/2" lower but I'd bet it's even less than that

I'm planning on useing a d44 front from a old chevy from what i know it should be 67 inches wide. the D70 is 48 backing plate to backing plate. he tried to measure the mounting surface to mounting surface and came up with around 65. Is it ok to to use a wider axle up front and if not could i use some quality spacers.
need info quick!!!
thanks

The front Is better too be wider For tracking reason's it will drive better on the road and steer easier I would not suggest spacer's in the rear!!!! is this what you said??? the rear will follow the front,,,, with wider front this is what you want!!

65 inches in the rear is pretty good !! and That sound about right the 70 that I had measured 65 inches wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface ,, I think you will get good flex also because of this !!!

so Go and Get It!!!!!! Check the axle shafts 1st though 35 spline or nothing

so the 2 inch difference won't be bad? And what is the limit in difference in size wms to wms so when i go get it i can measure and make sure its ok. and the 70 has a eight lug pattern so if i got it would i have to get a 60 up front to match or is there anyway to piece together a 6 lug chevy pattern. i'd rather not get a 60 up front yet because the innerds are pretty expensive compared to a 44 and i doubt they are as plentyfull at the pick and pull around here.
