Wow I'm feeling better about the one we're building in my club right now. Two commanche's for $250 and one totalled but built cherokee made what should be running this Tuesday. 6" lift, Ford 9" rear, Dana 30 front, Gastank in the bed, Atlas II, and he's into less than a $1,000 last time I checked not counting the totalled cherokee. We took a little bit of this and that and made the rest or pulled it at the junkyard on 1/2 price day. Betcha it can keep up with your buddies custom built one too.
Thats a sweet rig your describing don't get me wrong I'm not trying to knock it

I asked him about the axles (via our BB):
Quote:
I guess my only concern is running a bored out, supercharged 4.0 on 37" tyres and "stock" axles. (HD Dana shafts will only delay the inevitable IMHO).
His response?
Quote:
Tim, I knew you'd come up with something like that. Just read the specs on my axles. Would have been far quicker, easier and cheaper to have flown in a 44 front and 60 rear and bolted them straight in, but the idea was to build a demo vehicle which people can relate to the components it's built with ( and also afford them)

My response to that:
Quote:
"But the idea was to build a demo vehicle which people can relate to the components it's built with ( and also afford them) "

Rebored + 0.030 ( Hypereutectic pistons)

Blueprinted.

Forced induction Supercharger

CUSTOM BUILT Front 35" long arm

CUSTOM BUILT Rear 38"

AGR Superbox2 and matching pump.

High output "On-board air system" including receiver side-bars.

Powermaster 220 amp altenator.

Dual procomp HDX batteries and IBS power distribution control system.

You get many lottery winners dropping by your shop then?? ;-)

Don't get me wrong Mark, you put a lot of work into this rig, and it looks great, but we've all seen the UK Jeep customer base, and there's not much in the above list people can "relate" to! Its a nice dream car, but not too "real world"

I know the 119" stock wheelbase on a long bed Cherokee might seem a bit long to some. And the extra bed length hanging off the rear should go for sure. But I can't believe they cut 16" off the wheelbase!
