I got the tranny jack chained up and all the bellhousing bolts removed(even those ufcking torx) but that isht won't budge...I've been tugging, pushing, and pulling!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0">...how the ufck do I get it out? <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0">

make sure you have the dust plate bolts out.. on the lower front of the tranny..
you might have to get a screw driver.. and hammer.. and pry them apart.. at the bell housing.. this will also tell you if you missed a bolt.. ive had to this several times with different trannies.. then pull like hell once you get a gap between them..

Check around the front of the motor and see if there are any bolts going through the front of the dust shield into the bell housing. Same goes for bell housing bolts that go from this direction to. then feel around the back real good.

Is it a stick or a auto? If it is a stick and you don't have the tranny jack up enough or if it is reall angled...or even up to far. You can make the input shaft wedge in the pilot bearing or clutch disc.

Or just grow a pair and pull harder...maybe tie a come-along to the out put and anchor it to the garage wall <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

ok...i got it off!...replaced the clutch and hydraulic throwout bearing...I slid the tranny back and have about an inch gap between the engine and tranny mounting surfaces...how wide of a gap before i can be sure that the splines have lined up?

what i try to do is.. at about the point you are at.. (make sure its in gear).. and as you have it up there.. with alittle pressure against it.. turn the rear output.. and you will feel the splines line up.. then you just shove like hell... also .. try to keep it on the same plain as the engine..

3 on top 12 point bolts 2 on the side 2 for the starter 3 for the dust cover. if you jot all that you are raising the trany to much it will bind.it needs to be in line whit the engine to come out or it will get cought in the clutch teht.

Only reason you almost got kilt is you just don't have the mechanical aptitude to do it like DUG.

If it is only an inch gap most likely it is in the splines. Spin the output and if it doens't move the splines are in.

Sounds like you are hung on the pilot bushing. Did you install a new one? They can be real tight. My tranny actually had to be kicked in place. Did you smear the pilot bearing full of grease? If you put in to much it can create a blockage in the crank and not allow the tranny on. Also, did you use a clutch alignment tool? if you just eyeballed it the clutch disc may not be in line with the pilot bushing good enough to fit well. Same goes for if you let the tranny droop after you made the splines but before the pilot bushing, it will slide the clutch plate around and make it not like up.

Do not draw it up with the bolts unless it moves super smooth and easy. It you do it like that there is a chance of damaging the pilot bushing.

everything's put back together...my problem now is that it won't go in gear...does the shift lever only go in one way?...before I slid the tranny back I shifted it in gear, but I think I didn't engage it all the way 'cause I didn't have enough room. It seems like it's in neutral now...

I hope I solve this tonight 'cause I have to drive to work in 3 hours...
