I am hoping for a strait forward low cost solution to better brakes on my 1986 CJ, 258. I have stock axles and do not have a power booster. It is a DD. Sitting on 33"s with a manual 4 speed.
I searched and saw lots of pieces of answers but couldnt really put it all together.
What I am shooting for is.....

1. Capability of locking 35"s at 40 mph

2. Keeping my proportiong valve (not a high priority)

3. Keeping my stock drums and discs

4. Not needing to change my air cleaner setup

5. Doing it cheap

I know I am asking alot about a subject that has been tossed around quite a bit here but any help would be aprerciated.

Can any one tell me specifically what I need? Can it be easily done? I am just an average guy trying to learn how to do my own work on my heep. Thanks, Woodeye

Hmm? What you "are shooting for" is doing nothing (from your list)...I would start for sure with a booster.
