Oddball SM420
I just came across a free tranny. It appears to be a SM 420 in every way except that the output is 35 spline and the input is ten spline but much bigger than a regular 420. The case and all internals appear to be standard 420. Has anyone ever seen one of these. I am thinking it is some kind of millitary version or something. It is not quite complete but it is brand new.

I think there where three main differences through the year but after those there were also different combos. 2wd and 4wd. The 2wd yoke could have had the high spline count.

I believe some 420's came with a 1 1/4" - 10 spline input shaft which is a bit bigger than the normal 1/ 1/8" - 10 spline. Something like that anyways.

This input is more like 1 1/2 just the pilot bushing id is 1". I have checked Novaks site and even called and talked to someone. He thought is was probably military but was not sure.
