Fair price for an 86 cj7?
So, I'm going to buy a 7 from a friend of mine and I don't want to bone her (on price) Whats fair for a cali 7 with 200,000mi, hardtop and minimal lift in decent shape?

Her rear end will make a difference as well. If she has a fat round one, well, that is not near as desirable as the more angular shaped one that came in a few of those models.
Around CO she could get 5 - 6K without too much trouble. |

I paid 2 g's for mine. Solid, little bit of body rust, about the same milage you've got. Find somebody that really needs to get rid of it. Then help them out and take it off there hands. I think the guy who sold me mine lost his job or something and was selling off all the misc stuff he had lying around. Funny thing is he had 2 jeeps, one was a fawked up 79 CJ5 with a soft top and 258 and some other dumb ass bought that one b/f I bought mine b/c he wanted a soft top. The 5 had a ten year old crapped out Bestop on it. That other guy was probably pissed as he had the towing guy put the 5 on a flatbed and I drove the 7 away. Bwahahahahahahahahaha.

If it has the chrome grill, (Laredo) and lots of options, it will be worth more due to collectability. Could be well over 6K depending on options. Aggro, I'm assuming it's a typical cali rust free one? If it's rusty not much, $1500 max. Cosmetics, and condition play a huge role. If it's not perfect, runs well, has faded paint, needs a little minor work here and there, they typically go for $4500-$5000. Not saying you can't find one that has a broken part you would huck anyway for way less, too.

I can see I sold my old CJ too cheap. It had 60,000 miles on it. I put in D44 f/r, ARB f/r, T-19, 8000lb winch, 304, 35", full cage, new supertop etc. I only got $7000 for it..

it mainly depend on where you at. around here they run from $500 to $2500 but the same vehicle up north would run $4000-6000. check the paper and see what others in your area run
