As for tidy-ing up, have you considered using 1/4" steel rod welded to the sheet metal edge? It would clean up the line and add some rigidity. Seems you don't need to worry about having flares.

Shoot- I'd ditch the flares front and rear, and bolt on some crusher corners. Nice & clean. After all, it's not like those flares are gonna do much with all that rubber hangin' out the sides!
Here's mine: I'd run tube if I needed the extra protection. I started mine with flares on the front, and then decided I liked it better without them. Might build some tube fenders up front when these get bashed up. Dirk |

I saw that jeep driving around norman a couple times. Are you in norman, or do you still live in Tulsa?
Anyway, i like the rear fender idea looks good. Whats the wheelbase on that jeep?

Gawd damn Jimmy....that looks great. I have to agree that the flares will give you no protection from mud or snow, just tube it out and get some extra sheet metal protection at the same time. It's not like you cruise it around Pleasant Hill and need the flare coverage to keep us Cops happy. Shit I'd pull you over just to look at it
. Shoot me a Pm and we'll arrange to go hit up Prison Hill or Moonrocks or both. You can wheel it the way it is now, you don't need the wheelbase yet. Lets go have some fun. Geoff

D.U.,
Great looking rig, but haven't seen you at Hollister Hills yet! Come on down. Remember, "Helicopters can't fly, they just beat the air into submission"! Terry

cops are very strict here in Australia... so I used some material that they use on rally cars here... picked it up from a racegear store. It is flexible black plastic/rubbery stuff.
It's pretty rude, but covers the rubber. Haven't done the front yet... wheelbase is just over 100"

Geoff- Yeah, not going to end up with tire coverage. The inside of the tire is exactly flush with the outside of the body! I just want the look of the flares. Oh well, we'll see. I was actually thinking of setting up a trip out there pretty soon, like around new years if that would work for you. Let me know. Want to stretch but took it to the snow and it went everywhere yesterday so I can play with this short wheelbase a little.
Scout- never been to Hollister Hills. Is there some good stuff there? Let me know when you are heading out there and we'll set something up. Oh and "If you are in trouble anywhere in the world, an airplane can fly over and drop flowers, but a helicopter can land and save your life" ![]() Hans- Thanks!
