mating a D300 to aw4 tranny. do i need a clocking ring?

i bought the higher spline tranny (23 spline?) so i can mate a d300, do i need a clocking ring for it to bolt up? i am wanting to keep the passenger side drop of the d300 to match the front 60 im putting in it.
if i do need a clock ring are there different kinds? and how much should i expect to pay for one of these?
TIA

You should not have to have a clocking ring to make it work, though while your at it I would go ahead and get the ring and make a flat skid or at least clock it up a little bit. Go2Guy on this BB has these rings, I am not sure how much it would cost for your application but you could send him a PM and find out.

Where in MO are you located?

If the tranny is on the floor, try sliding the 300 on and see what you get. If I recall, the aw4 needs a thicker ring- about 7/8 as does the ax-15. otherwise my ring will work fine and save you some $$$$.
