Heater Control Valve ?

On my 91 XJ 4.0, the heater control valve cracked. Is it really needed or can I get rid of it?

Yes you can bypass the heater core.
You need to allow for flow with it removed. I made a bypass for mine with 1/2" copper and two elbows.
