94 Cherokee 4.0...what parts?
This'll get moved, but I want a few Jeep guys to answer it first, if you would. Please!!
I just picked up a 94 Cherokee (rolled) and I'm curious what parts to use/pull. I was for sure pulling the FI stuff, but could I just put the whole drivetrain (- axles) into my CJ7? Would that be a PITA? Thanks guys....beers on me. Apologies for the stupid question.

I've currently got an 84 CJ-7 with the T18 (6.23) and Dana 300. The axles are stock shit and will be replaced by D44s when I do the rest of the drivetrain mods.
I'm getting rid of the T18 for sure because I want an automatic in it (yeah...I know) so I'm really leaning towards a full drivetrain (engine, tranny, xfer case) swap...just not sure about rear driveshaft length, etc.

I would do the 4.0 head swap if you have the 4.2 in it now, then if you really want to go auto then use the auto from the cherochee and try to keep the dana 300 transfer case that is in the cj (I think advanced adapters has a plate to do that)There is alot of mods you can do to the dana 300 like 4 to 1 gear and twin stick etc.., and its alot stronger transfer case then the one from the cherochee, thats my .02 meangreen

swap in the 4.0 & auto,
go with the 300 TC (it's shorter, beefier & twin stickable) its already on the right side for your CJ hang on to your 258 short block - the rods & crank will come in handy for that 4.7 stroker engine you know you want to build later swap out the seats if you want(newer, comfier maybe) if you do decide to put the NP231 in I'll take the 300 to get it out of your way
