Cable Shifted T-Cases?
Advanced Adapters (AA) has recently introduced cable controlled shifters for the Atlas. I was interested in adapting this to my D300 so that the shifters would be closer to the driver. The AA engineer says that they aren't readily adaptable.
I was wondering if anyone has designed/built cable shifters for a D300?

I put a d300 in my jeep last year. I am running a hp 44 in the front so I flipped the case. To make the cable shifters work this is what I did: Cut the front of the rail housing just in front of the detents and make a plate to close it off. Shorten the front of the rails. Lengthen the rear of the rails- I drilled and tapped then and added a section to the back. The reason for all this is I wanted the shifter cables to come out the back because there was not much room under the front output (upside down case). I got cables with shifter levers from a local supply place, they are used to activate hydraulic valves. Then I made a mounting bracket for the rear of the case. I also machined the back of the case for seals for the rails. It sounds like a lot of work but it was fairly easy. I think if you had a regular d300 (not flipped) you could modify the original rails and make a bracket to mount the cables. I can email pics if you can post them, they are too big to post here and I suck at computers.

was brought up (not much discussion) here.... http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...=cable+shifter
and again in some toyota van thread but with no actual tech. I have some pics of a cable shifed t-case i snaged from a thread few months ago. I was unable to locate that thread now, but ill re-post those pics later at home.. (not sure if anyone else has them, they were from over seas and very fuzzy w/ poor lighting... but still worth posting) -mike
