Exclamation Fire Hazard in my YJ

I have a prgressing problem with my fuse box under the dash it seems that the fuse port for the tail lights and the dash lights is melting the fuse instead of popping. I have ordered a OEM replacment harness and my question is would it be safe to just splice in the fuse box to save time and anguish? Any input would help
