Post is a front hitch strong enough to.......

I am looking to do a front leaf swap onto an XJ, would a front hitch provide enough strength to add spring mounts and act as a support without ripping the unibody?

Should be. A friend of mine put buggy leafs on the rear of his XJ using the rear hitch as a mount....

Someone just did this. Do a search for hybrid D44/D30 and leaf spring XJ and I bet you can find the URL to his pictures.

if my measurements are right, it would fit perfectly with using the lca mounts as a shackle mount and using pre-1985 toyota front springs...
