Newbie with questions and all that

Hello,
I just recently picked up a 69 Jeepster commando, less engine. I then picked up a 231 out of a 79 Malibu (which I'm assuming is an evenfire). However, the flywheel came out of a 76 buick, and it's to my understanding that in 76 these engines were still oddfire, even though it says evenfire on the flywheel. But people make mistakes.

The problem that I have is that the clutch isn't disengaging at all. Even if I put a C-clamp on the release fork and tighten it as far as I can. I changed the throw out fork, and got a longer release bearing, but to no avail. I'm starting to think I have the wrong flywheel, because technically I checked out everything else.

Does anyone have a picture of an evenfire flywheel and maybe even the oddfire one?

The one I have on there now is rediculously thick.

Trying to go to Pismo on wednesday

Thanks guys

Christoph

You have different problems from my experience. People swap in even fires for the odd all the time without changing clutch/flywheel/starter/etc. The odd fire fly wheel is very heavy compared to the even fire - HTH.
