I'm also looking into buying a new windshield..... I slammed my head against my winshield when my jeep dropped off a sand dune. So I'm in the market for one now too.
LOOK AROUND FOR SOME ONE WHO DOES CUSTOM HOME WINDOWS. HE CAN USUALLY ORDERED AUTO GLASS TO AND CUTTING A BASIC JEEP WINDSHIELD IS EASY. SO LOOK OR SOME ONE WHO DEALS WITH CUSTOM WINDOWS. MY LOCAL GUY WHOS DOES ALL MY FLAT AUTO GLASS CHARGED ME 75 BUCKS FOR Y LAST WINDSHIELD.. COMPARED TO 350.. AND HE IN STALLED IT WITH MY HELP IN 30 MINS.. FOR ONLY 25 MORE..
SO IT MIGHT BE WORTH UR TIME TO CALL SOME LOCAL OR ASK AROUD AT A LOCAL SHOP. TELL THEM ITS OUT OF POCKET.. AND THEY MIGHT CUT U A BREAK.. IF ALL ELSE FAILS SEND UR WIFE IN TO GET IT .. MAKE SURE SHE WEARS HOT RED LIPSTICK.. A LOW CUT SHIRT AND A SHORT SKIRT....
I have had mine replaced twice in the last year. The first time it was 185 and a month ago it was 180 they came to my work and put it in. The highest quote I got was 250.
I was only charged $130... and they came to my house to do it. When I replaced the winshield in my Pathfinder (with the AM antenna in the glass) it was still only $165... and again, they came to me.
go buy a window from rockstomper.com i don't think they are very exensive and they won't break. its the material they use in nascar's and they have a video of hitting it with a sledge on the web site.
