Yesterday I blew up my Quick Lock Locker. It's a Joke, it was the second trip with it. When I arrived back I realized that inside the box that it came, there were 4 new pins !. Am I suppose to change the pins and be happy again???? Forget it, I do not want that shit in my Jeep again. So here is the situation. I bought it from 4Wheel parts.
Quest # 1; Anyone has the experience about receiving a credit from them, and take another product???
Quest # 2; Any experience with the No Slip locker from Powertrax?, Should I go to Detriot and forget about the rest?
I'd say get the Detroit, you already blew up one trash locker, so buying another may be risky. I've given my Detroit all the hell my 4banger can put out, and it's still live and kickin.
i have had lockrights for years and they never let me down. i have a 30 spline detroit for the 35 now, and it works just fine as well. never used a quick lock though.
as for 4wheel parts, i had them install a bumper once when i was a wee wheeler way back when. they botched the bumper and it never swung out correctly ever again ( tompken swing out tire carrier ) and there only remark was, " thats what tompken sells, we installed it just fine, live with it " they botched the installation so bad, i saw them CUTTING and grinding on a new bumper trying to make it fit in back. in was insanity, the thing should have just bolted right on. i haven't even let anyone change the oil on it since.
If these pins were left in the box, did you forget to install them? I installed a Quick lock for a friend and there were no extra pieces in the kit. If it failed because it was not installed correctly, it's doubtful that it will be covered by the warranty.
IMHO, the Powertrax products are better than the EZ/Quick Lockers (same product, different box). However, for what you are going to use it for, they probably wouldn't hold up. I'm assuming that you have low gears and big tires with your 350. I'd go with a full carrier replacement locker like a No-Spin, OX or ARB.
RR3, currenntly I'm running 35" with 3.73 (automatic). About the pins, nope, I can tell you that those are spare ones. Actually it also comes with spare springs !. These time the locker was installed by a pro, but I did install a few (3) in the past, so I pretty much know about the issue. By the way, I also have really good memories about EZ locker and Lock Rights in my old Samurai. I guess they work fine in smaller rigs !
Yep. Light weight, low horsepower and lunch boxers will probably survive for a while. If you plan to get it awn then save yourself a lot of problems and get something strong:flipoff2: I bit the bullet the first time and got Detroit soft lockers front and rear:smokin: but anything like that is gonna be cool(ARB,OX,Detroit).Later
I guess it just depends on the use to which it's put and how it's driven. Back in my Chevy days, I had a Lock Right in my old Blazer. The truck had a beefed 350, TH350, 14 bolt semi floater rear, 4.10 gears and 33's. I didn't have any problems with the locker. Recently, I ran into the guy I sold the truck to and he hasn't had any trouble with it either. I sold the truck to him 3 years ago and I had the Lock Right for a year before I sold the truck. Maybe being in a 14 bolt had something to do with it's longevity.

Most of the shit that Tomken sells is just that "SHIT". It's possible that 4wheel parts fawked up the installation but if it fit properly to begin with they would not have been cutting and grinding on the thing. As for the original question go with a full case Detroit.
