i'm gonna be making stud eliminators up front so i'm not limited to a particular shock with the upper stud.
i want to take advantage of their buy 3 get one free deal. i could also make up some barpin eliminators, so i'm not restricted to just a jeep application shock, i want one that allow alot of travel, so i don't use it as a bumpstop.
9012/5012= about 32" fully extended
nest size smaller is 9010/5010 and these are about 27" fully extended (I have one of each on my truck, my shock mounts, from the factory are at different highths).
I hear people go thru the 9000's bout every 7 months to a year. dont know if this is typical for a shock like that but i'd go with some bilsteins. course I know you dont want to hear that.
CMK, how much did that affect the distance compated to stock,
what is your resting eye to eye length?
also, what changes did you make to the front?
The upper mount moved up ~3", the lower mount probably moved up an inch or so and I'm running on 4" coils.
Those are the best numbers I can give you as the Jeep is currently sitting sans tranny, t-case, and gas tank.
The front is receiving similar treatment once I get my hands on taller coils. The upper mount will go up several inches. The lower mount will ... well, I dunno' yet, we shall see.
Honestly dude, the best way to do it is to fab up your mounts, set your bumpstops where you want them, twist it up, and take some measurements. NOTHING from my Jeep, or anyone else's, will transfer to yours ... accurately.
Thanks guys, i guess i'll be measuring and fabbing as soon as exams are over!
