haven't had luck with a search. I have poly just about everything, motor, control arms, leaf and shackle... I used BelRay waterproof grease that I had for bearings and such. Some of them are making noise. Any suggestions on a better kind of grease, or should I just ignore the noise?
One of the Quadratec catalogs said to use synthetic grease
on the polly stuff. So what the hell a good grease can't hurt
anything. You would think the polly people would say one or the other, but that has been the only thing I have ever seenon it.:jeep: :jeep2: :jeep3:
The stingy little packets that come with good poly bushing sets contain pure silicon grease which is clear color and very sticky.
The only place I have been able to find it is from a jewler's supply house as it is used to lubricate the small 'O' rings in watch cases.
It comes in tubes about the size of your thumb and costs around $10
You have to be a dealer to get it from my wholesale supplier, Grobet, but if anyone wants me to order some of it through my supply house
I will. Plus I have a couple of tubes of it on hand.
You could possably find it through a good industrial supply house also.
White lithium grease works OK but molly grease will really stain red poly. Neither has the thick, stay put, consistancey as the silicon grease though.
The white sticky grease supplied with the bushes is a PTFE based grease. I looked all over the shop to get some and short of ordering it from Energy Suspension, I found that Loctite sell grease containing PTFE called Superlube. This is what I used and it is working a treat. It is slightly less viscous than the grease supplied with the bushes, but it makes it easier to apply.
They sell it in large tubes and in grease gun cartridges. It is a lot cheaper as well.
They also have a product locator on their site where you can search for your nearest supplier by zipcode.
