lift and fender trimming.

Ok, Yes I did a search. The question I have is I don't know the stock height of a cj. My jeep is lifted, and I have 36" tires. they guy I bought it from is in japan in the air force. it also has a 3" body lift I would like to get rid of. I am going to be doing alot of street driving on this and the 79 narrow track i would like to lower it a little. I have to get my foot above my belly button to get into this. a picture of the vehicle is here

My question is, to take the 3" body lift off the jeep, how much trimming do I have to do? when trimming the back wheel wells, will I end up cutting into the interior where I would have to mig weld some sheet metal? I normally post in the newbie section but I figured alot more people here do this kind of thing.
