14b disc brake conversion

So I have been using the 14b tech section on Pirate4x4 to do my disc brake conversion for my 14b swap into my Waggy and had a question I hope you all can answer.

In the article, it is mentioned that the stock lugs can be used in the new setup but because of the large round head of the studs not quite fitting into the 3/4 ton rotors the lug nuts just barely engage the studs. BillaVista says that the alternative is to source out new studs that will work and says he will add the info later, but it is never mentioned again. Is there an alternative stud to be used that works with the 14b and 3/4 ton rotor so the lugs will engage better?

As in the article, this is going on my trail Jeep only so I could just reuse my studs, but if I can get a better part for the job, I would rather do it now rather then later since I have it apart.

Sorry if this is newb, but figured 3/4 ton swaps were a little more this forums expertise.

this was covered a few times already. if i remember correctly, the verdict was that it depends on which year your axle is. for some people, they could use the stock studs, and on others, it didnt work. in mine, it worked fine, but i also dont know what year my axle is.

I put mine on lathe and turned the head down enough to seat in the recessed hole of the rotor.

On mine the stock studs worked fine, there is maybe a little less than a 16th around the outside of the head of the stud, my axle is out of a '91...at some point (I don't remember exactly '88ish maybe, the 14b bible says) the drum/hub arangement was changed to allow drum removal without removing the hub. At some point along in there they also switched to metric studs, but I think that there were a couple of years with the later stud that wasn't metric threaded. I suspect that the stock studs for the later style drum/hub are the ones that have the right heads. I say that just cause I was able to use the stock style stud from my drum settup on my disk setup. Just an idea you might want to get ahold of one and measure it to see if it will work.

On mine the stock studs were to short and didnt offer enough engagement on the lug nuts for my liking.

I will make it easy for you.

I went to Pepboys and went thru their studs they keep in the back...

Found a perfect set and robbed all the neighboring stores of them to make a set.

Is this really advanced tech?

I used a screw driver and a hammer. But I would like to get one to tighten it to torque specs. Can u use the same one for a Ford D60?

It's a six point 1ton hub socket. Got mine at vAutoZone. You should be able to get one anywhere.

I know this is an old ass thread but I pulled it up while searching, went a few pages further and still didn't find my answer

I fubar-ed my stock lugs on my 14 bolt and was going to order some new ones. Since I"m pressing hubs onto rotors would the front studs from a 77 K20 work, or do I need to get the factory rears and use those?
